Argulus japonicus, or the Japanese fish louse, is a crustacean species in the family Argulidae. It is light brown and has a stumpy tail and a roughly round, shield-like shape. Individuals may measure 4 to 9 mm long and 3 to 6 mm wide. Females and males are phenotypically distinct, with transparent skin that shows differences including copulatory accessories.
