Municipal solid waste

Municipal solid waste (MSW) is a type of waste made up of everyday items discarded by the public. It is commonly called trash or garbage in the United States, and rubbish in Britain. Food waste may also be called garbage and can be collected separately. In the European Union, mixed municipal waste is assigned waste code 20 03 01 in the European Waste Catalog.
