Jagdgeschwader 26 (JG 26) Schlageter was a German fighter wing in World War II, formed in May 1939. It guarded Germany’s western borders during the Phoney War and subsequently fought in the battles of Belgium, France, and Britain. The wing later opposed RAF operations, the USAAF Eighth Air Force, and the Normandy landings. Elements also served in North Africa, the Mediterranean, and on the Eastern Front.
