  • World War II

The T-40 was an amphibious light scout tank used by the Soviet Union during World War II. Intended primarily for reconnaissance units, it carried a 12.7 mm DShK machine gun and could cross an unfordable river without a bridge. It served mainly in Operation Barbarossa and the defense of Moscow. Production ended after the cheaper, simpler and better-armed T-60 could perform most of the same roles.
