Muscat bleu is a red Swiss grape variety used for both winemaking and as a table grape. It is a hybrid of Garnier 15-6 and Perle noire, developed during the 1930s in Peissy, in the Canton of Geneva, by Swiss grape breeder Charles Garnier. Its wines have been described by Master of Wine Jancis Robinson as “soft and grapey”. Plantings also occur in Belgium.
