The Lockheed P-2 Neptune, formerly designated P2V by the United States Navy, was a land-based maritime patrol and antisubmarine warfare aircraft developed by Lockheed. It was intended to replace the Lockheed PV-1 Ventura and PV-2 Harpoon, and was later replaced by the Lockheed P-3 Orion. Although it never made a carrier landing, some aircraft were converted for carrier-launched nuclear bombing missions. The type also served with several foreign armed forces.
