The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is a Catholic devotion in which the heart of Jesus Christ symbolizes God's love for humanity. It is used predominantly in the Catholic Church and also by some high church Anglicans and Western Rite Orthodox. Its liturgical solemnity in the Latin Church falls on the third Friday after Pentecost. The modern form was popularized through Margaret Mary Alacoque's reported apparitions and later associated with Mary of the Divine Heart.
