Paper is a thin sheet made from matted cellulose fibers, largely derived from lignocellulose. It is produced by draining and drying a slurry of pulp into sheets. Paper types vary by fiber, pulp, sizing, coating, size, density and grammage. Papermaking developed in East Asia by at least 105 CE, and wood pulp became dominant after its 1843 invention and the Second Industrial Revolution.
