The Thumb is a mountain summit in the Sierra Nevada of Inyo County, northern California. It has an elevation of 13,356 feet (4,071 meters) and stands in the Palisades area of the John Muir Wilderness, on land managed by Inyo National Forest. It is the 83rd-highest summit in California. Its east aspect rises more than 2,500 feet (760 meters) above Birch Lake in about one mile.
