Giraffe

Hoofed Mammals

Giraffes are large African hoofed mammals in the genus Giraffa, recognized as the tallest living terrestrial animals and the largest ruminants. They have exceptionally long necks and legs, horn-like ossicones, and spotted coats. Living in savannahs and woodlands across scattered parts of Africa, they browse leaves, fruits, and flowers from woody plants. They form female-and-offspring herds or bachelor male herds, and males use necking to establish social hierarchies.
