  • Cat Breeds

The Siamese cat is one of the first distinctly recognised breeds of domestic cat. Selectively bred from the Wichianmat landrace native to Thailand, it is characterised by a temperature-sensitive colourpoint coat, blue almond-shaped eyes, large ears, and a slender, muscular body. Modern and traditional types later diverged, with the traditional type re-established as the separate Thai cat breed. Siamese cats have also contributed to several other breeds through crossbreeding.
