Delphi was an ancient sacred precinct in central Greece, legendary as the earlier site of Pytho. It was the seat of Pythia, a major oracle consulted on important decisions across the ancient classical world. Regarded by ancient Greeks as the world’s centre, it was marked by the Omphalos of Delphi. The precinct lies on Mount Parnassus’s southwestern slope and is now an archaeological site within Parnassos National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
