Cheerleading is an activity in which cheerleaders encourage teams, entertain audiences, or compete. Routines usually last one to three minutes and can include tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers, and stunting. Originating in the United States as an all-male activity, it is closely associated with American football and basketball. It has also gained traction internationally, though it remains less widespread than several other American sports. Stunting is associated with many serious injuries.
