Of Mice and Men is a 1937 novella by American author John Steinbeck. It follows George Milton and Lennie Small, displaced migrant ranch workers seeking jobs as they travel through California during the Great Depression. Steinbeck drew on his teenage experience of working alongside migrant farm workers in the 1910s. Its title comes from Robert Burns' poem "To a Mouse." The book has also been frequently censored or banned for its language.
