Alabama–Florida football rivalry

The Alabama–Florida football rivalry is an American college football rivalry game between the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and the University of Florida Gators. Both schools were charter members of the Southeastern Conference in 1933. They played 24 times from 1916 to 1991, but the rivalry emerged in 1992 when they met in the first SEC Championship Game. That game set a precedent for later contests that decided SEC and national champions.
