Helmet-mounted display

A helmet-mounted display (HMD) is a head-worn device used in aviation that projects imagery or symbology to the wearer’s eyes using digital displays and optics. It is used where head protection is required, especially in military aircraft. Its display-optics assembly may be attached to or integrated into a helmet. HMDs can improve a pilot’s situational awareness and, in military uses, cue weapons systems toward the direction of the pilot’s head.
