The cremaster muscle is a paired structure of thin striated and smooth muscle layers in human males. It covers the testicles and spermatic cords and has lateral and medial parts. An involuntary muscle, it produces the cremasteric reflex, raising and lowering the testicles for protection. Together with the dartos muscle of the scrotum, it regulates testicular temperature and aids spermatogenesis.
