Caviomorpha is a rodent parvorder that unites all New World hystricognaths. Its classification within rodents is supported by fossil and molecular evidence, although it was once considered a separate order outside Rodentia. The group includes extinct giant hutias and Josephoartigasia monesi, as well as living groups such as guinea pigs, capybaras, chinchillas, agoutis, pacas, New World porcupines and coypu.
