The Togoland campaign was a French and British invasion of the German colony of Togoland in West Africa, fought from 6 to 26 August 1914. It began the West African campaign of the First World War. German forces withdrew from Lomé and fought delaying actions toward Kamina, whose wireless station linked Togoland with Berlin, the Atlantic and South America. The colony surrendered on 26 August 1914 and was later partitioned by the victors.
