The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly called the United Kingdom, UK or Britain, is a country in northwestern Europe. It comprises England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and includes Great Britain, the north-eastern part of Ireland, and many smaller British Isles. A constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, it has three distinct jurisdictions. London is its capital and largest city.
