John Fitzgerald Kennedy, known as JFK, was the 35th president of the United States and a Democratic Party politician from Massachusetts. Elected president in 1960, he served during the Cold War, when his administration faced the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also supported the civil rights movement, established the Peace Corps, and continued the Apollo program. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas in 1963.
