The Serpente class was a French Navy class of four flush-decked, 20-gun corvettes. Designed by Charles-Henri Tellier, it followed the Etna-class corvettes of the previous year. Three vessels were ordered at Honfleur in 1794 and a fourth at Le Havre in 1795, built by four commercial shipbuilders under contract. They were designed to carry twenty 18-pounder guns. The Royal Navy captured one vessel and burnt another in action.
