Z21 Wilhelm Heidkamp was a Type 1936 destroyer built for the Kriegsmarine in the late 1930s and served as a flagship throughout her career. Before and during World War II, she inspected neutral shipping in the Skagerrak and helped lay four minefields off the English coast. During the German invasion of Norway, she sank a Norwegian coastal defense ship off Narvik, then was crippled in the First Naval Battle of Narvik. She sank the next day, after 81 crewmen were lost.
