The M2 Browning, also called the Browning .50-caliber machine gun or “Ma Deuce”, is a heavy machine gun designed near the end of World War I by John Browning. It uses the .50 BMG (12.7 mm) cartridge and has served against infantry, light armored vehicles, watercraft, fortifications and low-flying aircraft. Used by the United States since the 1930s, it is the primary heavy machine gun of NATO countries.
