Causal dynamical triangulation

  • Physics Concepts and Laws

Causal dynamical triangulation (CDT) is a physical theory and an approach to quantum gravity, theorized by Renate Loll, Jan Ambjørn and Jerzy Jurkiewicz. Like loop quantum gravity, it is background independent and does not assume a pre-existing dimensional space. It instead seeks to show how spacetime evolves. At large scales, CDT is reported to approximate four-dimensional spacetime, while near the Planck scale spacetime appears two-dimensional.
