Tutankhamun, born Tutankhaten, was the third-to-last pharaoh of ancient Egypt's Eighteenth Dynasty. He ruled from about 1332 to 1323 BC and died at about age 18. His administration restored traditional polytheistic religion after Atenism, returned the royal court to Memphis, and renewed relations with the Mitanni. His incomplete tomb was adapted after his death and discovered in 1922 by excavators led by Howard Carter.
