Ramming is a technique used in air, sea and land warfare in which an attacker hits a target by running into it. The term originated with the battering ram, a siege engine used to bring down fortifications through the force of its momentum, and ultimately derives from male sheep. Hand-held battering rams are also used by law enforcement and military personnel for door breaching.
