Normal distribution

  • Probability Distributions

A normal distribution, also called a Gaussian distribution, is a continuous probability distribution for a real-valued random variable. Its mean, median and mode are represented by μ, while its variance is σ² and its standard deviation is the positive value σ. Normal distributions are widely used in statistics and in the natural and social sciences. Their importance is partly explained by the central limit theorem.
