  • Topology

A Möbius strip, also called a Möbius band or Möbius loop, is a surface formed by joining the ends of a strip of paper with a half-twist. It was discovered in 1858 by Johann Benedict Listing and August Ferdinand Möbius, although it had appeared earlier in Roman mosaics. A Möbius strip has one side and one boundary curve, and is non-orientable, so clockwise and counterclockwise cannot be consistently distinguished within it.
