Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH was a German department store chain headquartered in Essen. It was formerly a subsidiary of Arcandor AG and entered insolvency proceedings in 2009. Investor Nicolas Berggruen took over all Karstadt stores by October 2010, and Signa Holding completely took over the company in 2014. In 2019, Karstadt and Galeria Kaufhof launched their merged company, Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof.
