The Pleiades, also called the Seven Sisters and Messier 45, is an asterism of an open star cluster in northwestern Taurus. About 444 light-years from Earth, it contains more than 1,000 stars, including several bright young B-type stars visible to the naked eye. The cluster includes reflection nebulae such as the Merope Nebula. Along with the Hyades, it forms the Golden Gate of the Ecliptic.
