Chitinimonas taiwanensis is a Gram-negative, motile bacterium in the genus Chitinimonas and family Burkholderiaceae. It is chitinolytic and catalase- and oxidase-positive, with a single flagellum. The bacterium was isolated from the surface of a freshwater pond used for shrimp, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, in Pingtung City in southern Taiwan.
