Apollo 11 was NASA's fifth crewed Apollo mission and the first spaceflight to land humans on the Moon. Launched from Florida on July 16, 1969, it carried Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin. Armstrong and Aldrin landed the Lunar Module Eagle in the Sea of Tranquility on July 20, while Collins remained in lunar orbit. The crew returned safely to Earth on July 24 after collecting lunar material and deploying scientific instruments.
