Our Lady of La Salette, or Notre-Dame de La Salette, is a Marian apparition reported by Maximin Giraud and Mélanie Calvat, two French children, at La Salette-Fallavaux, France, in 1846. The local bishop approved public devotion and prayers in 1851. In 1879, Pope Leo XIII granted a canonical coronation to an image in the Basilica of Our Lady of La Salette. Shrines and sanctuaries dedicated to her are found in several countries.
