RMS Titanic was a British ocean liner operated by White Star Line. On her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, she struck an iceberg and sank in the early hours of 15 April 1912. About 1,500 of the 2,208 passengers and crew died. Titanic was the largest ship afloat when she entered service and was one of three Olympic-class ocean liners built for White Star Line.
