The Eiffel Tower is a lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. Named for engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built it from 1887 to 1889, it was constructed as the centrepiece of the 1889 World's Fair. The 330-metre tower has three visitor levels and is the tallest structure in Paris. It was designated a monument historique in 1964 and became part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.
