Space Shuttle Enterprise

Space Shuttle Enterprise, designated OV-101, was the first orbiter of the Space Shuttle system. Built for NASA, it performed atmospheric test flights after launch from a modified Boeing 747. It had no engines or functional heat shield and could not fly in space. Enterprise was later displayed at the Smithsonian's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, then transferred to the Intrepid Museum in New York City, where it has been displayed since July 2012.
