The Temple of Athena Polias was the main temple of ancient Priene, located northwest of the agora within a sanctuary complex. Dedicated to Athena Polias, it was built around 350 BC, with construction sponsored by Alexander the Great during his campaign to the Persian Empire. The temple is believed to have been designed by Pytheos. Its ruins stand at the foot of an escarpment of Mount Mycale.
