Cornu aspersum, commonly called the garden snail, is a species of land snail in the family Helicidae. It was classified as Helix aspersa for more than two centuries, but prevailing classification places it in the genus Cornu. The species may be the best-known terrestrial mollusc. It is eaten in some areas, while elsewhere it is widely regarded as a garden and agricultural pest, particularly where it was accidentally introduced.
