The house sparrow (Passer domesticus) is a small bird in the sparrow family Passeridae. Native to much of Europe, the Mediterranean Basin, and Asia, it has also been introduced to parts of Australasia, Africa, and the Americas. It lives in urban and rural settings, feeds on seeds and invertebrates, and is listed as least concern on the IUCN Red List, although numbers have declined in some areas.
