Krav Maga is an Israeli self-defence system developed for the Israel Defense Forces. It was originally developed by Hungarian-born Israeli martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld, who drew on boxing, wrestling and street-fighting experience. Its original purpose was to make practical techniques rapidly teachable to conscripted soldiers. The system emphasizes aggression and simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers. Forms have been adapted for Israeli security forces and for civilian use.
