USS Germantown (LSD-42)

USS Germantown (LSD-42) is the second Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship in the United States Navy and the second navy ship named for the Revolutionary War Battle of Germantown. It was the first ship of its class to serve in the Pacific. Designed to operate with Landing Craft Air Cushion vessels, it transports and launches amphibious craft and vehicles carrying embarked Marines for amphibious assaults.
