Uno, stylized as UNO, is an American proprietary shedding-type card game. It was originally developed in 1971 by Merle Robbins in Reading, Ohio. The game uses a dedicated deck and belongs to the crazy eights family of card games, which is based on the traditional German game of mau-mau. International Inc., the gaming company associated with the game, was acquired by Mattel on January 23, 1992.
