Designed by William Burnet Tuthill and built by Andrew Carnegie, it presents about 250 performances each season and is also rented to performing groups. The complex contains three auditoriums: Stern Auditorium, Zankel Hall, and Joan and Sanford I. Weill Recital Hall. Constructed between 1889 and 1891, it is a National Historic Landmark and a New York City designated landmark.
