Thomas Massie is an American politician and Republican who represented Kentucky's 4th congressional district from 2012. Raised in Vanceburg, Kentucky, he earned two degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and founded a startup based on computer simulation work. He was elected Lewis County judge-executive in 2010, then entered Congress through a 2012 special election. He has been associated with libertarian Republican positions on federal spending, surveillance, and interventionism.
