German submarine U-516 was a Type IXC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. Built at Deutsche Werft in Hamburg, she was commissioned in February 1942 under Korvettenkapitän Gerhard Wiebe. U-516 completed six patrols, sinking 16 ships and damaging one. She surrendered at Loch Eriboll, Scotland, in May 1945, was assigned to Operation Deadlight, and was sunk in January 1946.
