The southern white rhinoceros, also called the southern white rhino, is a subspecies of the white rhinoceros. Its scientific name is Ceratotherium simum simum. It is one of two white rhinoceros subspecies, alongside the much rarer northern white rhinoceros. The southern white rhinoceros is the most common and widespread rhinoceros subspecies.
