HMS Renown was the lead ship of her class of Royal Navy battlecruisers, built during the First World War. Originally planned as an improved Revenge-class battleship, she was redesigned as a battlecruiser for faster completion. She was among the world’s fastest capital ships when completed. Renown served in the Second World War in European, Atlantic and Indian Ocean operations, then entered reserve after the war and was sold for scrap in 1948.
