The Mercedes 35 hp, also called the Mercedes 35 PS, was an early car model designed in 1901 by Wilhelm Maybach and Paul Daimler for Emil Jellinek. Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft produced it in Stuttgart, Germany. Originally designed for racing and later developed for road use, it began the Mercedes line of cars. Its low centre of mass, tailored steel chassis and petrol engine distinguished it from earlier modified-stagecoach automobiles.
