The original 1 World Trade Center, also called the North Tower, was a skyscraper in New York City and one of the Twin Towers of the original World Trade Center. Completed in 1972, it was 1,368 feet (417.0 m) tall and was the world’s tallest building until 1973. It was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, after American Airlines Flight 11 struck it. The present-day One World Trade Center succeeded it.
